Executive Director, Banking COO Americas
About the role
The Executive Director Americas Banking COO supports the Banking business—comprising Global Banking and Syndicate & Portfolio Management (S&PM)—in developing and implementing business strategy, organizational realignments, accountabilities, and processes to capture growth opportunities aligned with the strategic direction of the business in a safe and sustainable manner. The role serves as the regional COO for the Banking Heads in Americas, collaborating closely with group Banking COOs, Business Risk Managers (BRM), and functional stakeholders.
Key focus areas include business enablement, business risk management, local governance, conduct and supervision, change management (including regulatory implementation), and dealing room management. The position drives initiatives to enhance operational efficiency while ensuring governance and compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Strategy: Act as the first point of contact in Global Banking COO for senior Global Banking and S&PM leadership in the Americas, including regional Capital Markets Heads and the Global Banking Americas Head (S24). Support the execution and implementation of country, product, and regional Banking strategy and business initiatives.
- Business Execution: Deliver the Banking agenda locally and regionally. Assist the Banking Head S24 with local business requirements, such as Management Board meetings, presentations, and yearly strategy papers. Partner with local support functions to resolve business issues and act as a connector between global and local teams to export best practices.
- Cost Management: Drive and manage a prudent cost culture. Support the roll-out of new Banking products and services in line with the group strategy.
- Business Enablement: Provide business support for Global Banking products locally, with the assistance of global Business Managers for each product vertical.
- Process Improvement: Continuously seek process simplification and re-engineering opportunities to improve operational efficiency. Stay updated on local regulations to assess impact, business opportunities, and manage changes to business processes and infrastructure.
- People & Talent: Support local and regional leadership as the first point of contact for all Global Banking and S&PM matters, mobilizing local Banking COO resources to address regular and ad hoc requests.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks in-country. Provide Country Process Owner support in accordance with the Banking and Markets Support and Governance Model/Memorandum of Understanding. Execute controls, monitor, report, and escalate operational risks as appropriate.
- Governance: Operate effective supervision of Banking staff where applicable. Ensure adherence to internal and external processes, procedures, and governance practices set by country risk committees. Support Banking business heads in product governance matters, such as country addendum updates and new product approvals. Coordinate in-country audits and provide business management support, including capacity planning, business continuity, access controls, Service Level Agreements, and licensing.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 10+ years of relevant business management or COO experience, ideally at a global banking institution.

Pay
Expected annual base pay range for the role is $185,000 to $280,000 USD. The final offer will be determined on an individualized basis using variables such as skill set, depth of experience, education, internal relativity, and specific work location. Discretionary variable pay and a range of bank-sponsored benefits are also available as part of the total compensation package.
