About the role
The Executive Director of the Delaware Highlands Conservancy leads the organization's efforts in protecting working farms and forests, clean waters, and wildlife habitat. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director oversees all operations and programs, focusing particularly on land conservation initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the Conservancy’s accreditation by upholding Land Trust Alliance standards in all aspects of organization management.
- Hire, supervise, and mentor a team of professionals.
- Develop and implement educational programs and fundraising strategies.
- Manage fiscal probity and ensure efficient administrative operations.
- Foster and maintain strong partnerships with landowners, community members, and various stakeholders.
- Lead strategic planning and implementation, demonstrating creativity and flexibility.
- Use Microsoft Office programs, QuickBooks, and donor/data management systems.
- Travel frequently to manage regional operations.
Requirements
- Five years’ non-profit leadership experience in the conservation field.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field, with graduate training or postgraduate education in land conservation, ecology, fundraising, community planning, real estate, or nonprofit management preferred.
- Demonstrated passion for and knowledge of land conservation practices, protection of open space, and commitment to providing quality service.
- Exemplary relationship building and partnership skills, including effective communication and fund development.
- Strong business management skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, QuickBooks, and donor/data management systems.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for frequent travel.
