Position Summary

The Executive Director will lead the Anti-Recidivism Coalition (ARC) in advancing its mission to support reentry, foster healthier communities, advocate for a fairer criminal justice system, and promote acceptance of formerly incarcerated individuals and ARC’s members. Reporting to the Board of Directors and working closely with the organization’s founder as needed, the Executive Director will oversee all of ARC’s programmatic and operational functions, facilitate its growth, and ensure its sustainability. This position is fully onsite at ARC’s headquarters in Los Angeles.

Responsibilities

• Implement and execute ARC’s Strategic Planning processes in partnership with key staff and stakeholders, including the Board of Directors.
• Oversee all operational, financial, administrative, and personnel management of the organization, with its $24M+ operating budget and staff of nearly 200.
• Assess current staffing and develop an ongoing plan to further strengthen the overall team, particularly at the senior level.
• Manage executive leadership team as appropriate and provide overall leadership for the organization’s staff.
• Ensure that a best-practices human resource department is fully functional, which includes effective hiring, recruiting, onboarding, outlining performance goals and evaluations, while continuing to foster professional development and team objectives for staff.
• As a natural listener with great empathy, actively engage members both within prisons and throughout the lifecycle of reentry.
• Cultivate major donors and engage the Board in fundraising efforts, while continuing to expand and develop the board to support the everchanging needs of ARC.
• Lead efforts to expand fundraising capacity for ARC, working in concert with the Chief Development Officer, Development Team, Board of Directors and founder (as requested), to ensure robust comprehensive and diverse fund development inclusive of individual donors, corporate and foundation relations, and government contracts.
• Have the capacity and experience to develop, pilot, and launch programming to further advance the mission and impact of ARC, including partnerships and other initiatives.
• Working in close alignment with the Board of Directors, Chief Financial Officer, and other key staff, oversee financial planning, reporting and budgeting, and establish policies, norms and evaluative tools to ensure accountability and consistency. In addition, prudently manage the organization's resources within those budget guidelines according to current laws, regulations and industry best practices.
• Serve as the primary point of contact to the Board of Directors for ARC and ensure that the Board is kept fully informed about significant organizational developments, organizational health, and strategic direction.
• Prepare for and participate in Board and Board Committee meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree preferred.
• Minimum five years of experience in an executive management position at a non-profit of similar size and scope.
• Understanding and knowledge of the policies related to criminal justice reform efforts.
• Dynamic, visionary, and culturally engaged leader.
• Experienced in leadership and team management.
• Proficient and proven track record in fundraising and external relations.
• Strong background in administrative and financial leadership.

Pay

Base pay range $200,000.00/yr - $260,000.00/yr
