About the role

The Northwest Environmental Business Council (NEBC) is seeking an experienced leader to guide the organization into its next chapter following the planned retirement of its longtime Executive Director. NEBC represents over 160 member companies and connects thousands of environmental professionals, delivering more than 20 conferences, educational programs, webinars, and networking events annually. The organization brings together businesses, regulators, tribal governments, local governments, and environmental professionals to advance collaboration, education, and environmental stewardship in the Northwest.

The Executive Director will serve as NEBC's chief executive and public-facing leader, reporting to the Board of Directors. This role involves building on a strong foundation, leading a financially sound organization with an engaged Board, dedicated staff, and a respected reputation for convening key stakeholders. Responsibilities include developing relationships, strengthening strategic partnerships, supporting membership, and identifying opportunities to expand NEBC's impact and long-term success.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as NEBC’s chief executive and public-facing leader, representing the organization to members, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with businesses, government agencies, regulators, tribal governments, and other key stakeholders.
  • Strengthen strategic partnerships to expand NEBC’s impact and long-term success.
  • Oversee organizational management, including budgeting, staff leadership, and collaboration with the Board of Directors.
  • Support NEBC’s membership and identify opportunities for growth and engagement.
  • Manage multiple priorities in a small, hands-on organization.
  • Travel regularly throughout Oregon, Washington, and Idaho to engage with stakeholders and represent NEBC.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Senior-level leadership experience in an association, nonprofit, business, government, or related organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in organizational management, budgeting, staff leadership, and working with a board of directors or similar governing body.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and public-facing skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including businesses, government agencies, and regulators.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly throughout Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.
