Executive Director
Central Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission (CARPDC) is a regional public agency serving Autauga, Elmore, and Montgomery Counties. CARPDC partners with local governments to advance planning, economic and community development, human services, and Weatherization programs that enhance regional quality of life.
About the role
The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer, providing strategic leadership, organizational management, and oversight of daily operations. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director works closely with elected officials, staff, and regional partners to advance priorities and ensure effective, efficient service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for all programs, operations, and staff
- Advise the Board on strategy, policy, and organizational performance
- Manage budgeting, financial operations, and regulatory compliance
- Serve as CARPDC’s primary representative with local, state, and federal partners
- Foster regional collaboration and intergovernmental coordination
Requirements
- Master’s degree in planning, public administration, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience, including at least five (5) years in senior leadership
- Experience with public or quasi-governmental organizations, including budgeting, grants management, and compliance
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
