Executive Communications Manager
About the role
Planet is seeking a strategic and proven Executive Communications Manager to shape and amplify the thought leadership platforms of our senior leadership team. This role will sit within the Communications team and be responsible for crafting high-impact narratives that bridge the gap between our technical innovations in space and their real-world impact across commercial and government applications.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary communications lead for Planet’s CEO, developing and expanding a narrative that combines space, AI, sustainability, security, and more.
- Lead the strategy and execution of high-level content, including top-tier press opportunities, op-eds, keynote presentations, and long-form messaging for major industry shifts.
- Collaborate closely with the social media lead on owned content and profile growth.
- Drive executive strategy and presence at top-tier global forums such as the Munich Security Conference (MSC), World Economic Forum, and more.
- Act as a strategic advisor and ghostwriter for our executive bench, including Ashley Johnson (President & CFO), Robbie Schingler (Co-Founder & CSO), James Mason (Chief Space Officer), and Charlie Candy (Chief Revenue Officer).
- Collaborate closely with Marketing, Government Affairs, and Product teams to ensure executive messaging is synchronized with Planet’s core values, mission, and commercial objectives.
Requirements
Experience: 6-8 years of relevant work experience in executive communications, corporate communications, or a related field, preferably within a high-growth technology environment.
Executive Presence: Ability to work directly with C-suite leaders, providing firm, actionable feedback and navigating dynamic personalities with many competing priorities.
Exceptional Writing: A master storyteller with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling positions for a non-technical, global audience.
Immaculate Attention to Detail: Strategic Agility: Success in developing earned and owned media programs that deliver measurable brand awareness and credibility.

Skills
Industry Savvy: Existing relationships within major media outlets, events, and influencers.
Multimedia Expertise: Experience with multi-media storytelling, including video scripts and digital engagement strategies for platforms like LinkedIn and X.
Geopolitical Acumen: Knowledge of the intersection between commercial space capabilities and national security.

Pay
The US base salary range for this full-time position at the commencement of employment is listed below. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (bonus and equity).
Schedule
This is a full-time, hybrid role which will require you to work from our San Francisco office 3 days per week.
