Executive Communications Manager

Figma · San Francisco, CA · 3 days ago
Marketing$153k–$269k/yrFull-time

About the role

Figma is growing our team of passionate creatives and builders on a mission to make design accessible to all. Figma’s platform helps teams bring ideas to life—whether you're brainstorming, creating a prototype, translating designs into code, or iterating with AI. From idea to product, Figma empowers teams to streamline workflows, move faster, and work together in real time from anywhere in the world.

We're looking for an executive communications manager to shape Figma's story and how our execs tell it. You’ll partner with leaders across the business to turn early ideas into clear, compelling points of view and build platforms that only they can credibly own. From there you'll work with our comms team and Figmates across the company to get those stories told in the spaces and places where they’ll have the most impact.

A lot of the work is writing: essays, keynotes, social posts and op-eds. The rest is strategy: figuring out which ideas are worth developing, which audience needs to hear them, how a story travels and what makes people excited to share it. This is a new role reporting to our VP of Communications.

The ideal candidate will write and speak with the same precision and clarity they’d expect from the execs they support. They’ll know how to make someone sound sharp in a 140-character post and credible in a 3,000-word essay. You’ll operate with low ego, high conviction and the curiosity to uncover stories people want to hear and that our execs want to tell. This is a full-time role based in San Francisco or New York City hubs.

Responsibilities

  • Build the narrative framework executives across the business use to tell Figma's story, and their own
  • Work with our comms team on media strategy, and bring sound judgment to messaging and channel selection
  • Partner with (and occasionally spar) with executives to sharpen their ideas and the broader point of view behind them
  • Build the system and infrastructure this function needs to keep our executive storytelling consistent and differentiated
  • Find ways to measure impact and drive a culture of experimentation in our exec comms

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience crafting narratives for senior executives across formats, channels and audiences
  • A track record of writing for C-suite executives with strong opinions and high standards
  • Executive presence, and a track record of influencing people who don't report to you
  • Media relations experience and sound judgment on press, messaging and reputation
  • Comfort with ambiguity, deep curiosity and a record of shipping strong work

Nice to have

  • A journalism or editorial background, with an instinct for what's newsworthy and how a story reads to an outside audience
  • Experience in tech, creative pursuits and/or product design and development
  • Strong business literacy and the ability to translate complex financial and technical topics for a broader audience
  • Passion for Figma and what we do!

Benefits

  • Health, dental, and vision coverage
  • Retirement benefits with company contributions
  • Parental leave and reproductive or family planning support
  • Mental health and wellness benefits
  • Paid time off, including sick leave, holidays, and flexible PTO (subject to manager approval)
  • Company recharge days
  • Cell phone and home internet reimbursements
  • Lifestyle spending accounts
  • Sales incentive compensation for most sales roles and an annual bonus plan for eligible non-sales roles
  • Equity to employees

Pay

Annual Base Salary Range: $153,000—$269,000 USD. Job level and actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact, and scope of role), market demands, and specific work location.
