Responsibilities
- Affirms that all foods produced meet the highest quality standards with proper temperatures and garnishes, and are served with proper sanitary procedures.
- Coordinates and directs the preparation of food based on needs, using standardized recipes.
- Orients, motivates, supervises, and evaluates employees of the production and kitchen components according to established standards and procedures to ensure an efficient and effective department.
- Enforces safety and sanitation procedures in accordance with Department of Public Health guidelines.
- Plans, monitors, and controls the purchase, storage, and utilization of all foods and sundry items.
- Prepares meals for residents, staff, and visitors as needed.
- Develops and standardizes recipes as per the cycle menu.
- Oversees the receiving of food deliveries, checking for quality and completeness of orders.
- Assists in managing the department in the absence of the Director of Food & Nutritional Services.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in food service management or 10 years' experience working as a Food Service Director in a long-term care setting is required.
- Minimum 5 years as a cook or manager in a hotel, hospital, school, long-term facility, or restaurant is preferred.
- Minimum 2 years working in a supervisory capacity.
- Must have Serve Safe & Allergen Training.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English is required.
