Executive Assistant Intern
About the role
The Civilian Complaint Review Board (“CCRB”) is charged with investigating, mediating, and prosecuting complaints against New York City police officers. The Board consists of 15 members appointed by the Mayor, City Council, and Public Advocate, or designated by the police commissioner. The Board governs the agency and the Executive Director oversees daily operations.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Director of Public Engagement and Partnerships
- Manage calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate events
- Aid in email correspondence and draft communications
- Collect and input data into tracking systems for audits
- Maintain organized filing systems (digital and/or physical)
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall goals and mission of the department/organization
Requirements
College student, minimum qualifications vary by assignment level, preference for skills in public service loan forgiveness, residency requirement within 90 days of appointment.
Qualifications
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school, specific course of study in information technology or related fields, maximum tenure for all levels is 6 years, students may be employed full-time during vacation periods.
Skills
- Currently enrolled in a college or university (Human Services, Social Justice, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field preferred)
- Must be a sophomore, junior, or senior
- Strong research skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
- Self-starter with a positive attitude and eagerness to learn
