Execution Trader, Asset Management
About the role
We are seeking an Equity Trader to join the UBS Asset Management Trading Desk in the United States. In this role, you will partner closely with portfolio managers, research teams, and senior traders to deliver best-in-class execution across a broad range of equity strategies while helping drive innovation and continuous improvement across the trading platform.
- Execute cash equities, ETFs, and listed equity derivatives across U.S. and global markets on behalf of active and index investment strategies
- Collaborate with portfolio managers and investment teams to develop and implement effective trading strategies, including liquidity analysis, trade construction, sizing, and execution planning
- Monitor market conditions and provide timely insights on price action, liquidity dynamics, market structure, and macroeconomic developments
- Analyze execution performance and transaction cost data, communicating actionable insights to portfolio managers and other key stakeholders
- Support the continued evolution of trading processes through automation, workflow enhancements, and the adoption of AI-enabled trading and analytics tools
- Ensure all trading activity complies with regulatory requirements, internal controls, fiduciary obligations, and best execution standards
- Contribute to the growth and development of the trading platform, including expanding coverage across products, strategies, and asset classes where appropriate
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, liquidity providers, exchanges, and market participants to enhance execution outcomes for clients
- Participate in trading desk initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, scalability, and risk management practices
Your team
You will be based in Chicago (preferred) or New York, and be part of the UBS Asset Management Americas Trading Desk, responsible for delivering execution services across a diverse range of equity investment strategies. The team works closely with portfolio managers, investment specialists, operations, compliance, and risk management functions in a highly collaborative environment focused on disciplined execution, strong controls, and superior client outcomes.
Requirements
- 3-7+ years of institutional equity trading experience
- Strong knowledge of US equity markets, market structure, electronic trading, and liquidity venues
- Experience trading cash equities, ETFs, and/or listed equity derivatives
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data and quantitative insights to support trading decisions
- Familiarity with OMS/EMS platforms, algorithmic execution tools, transaction cost analysis (TCA), and trading analytics
- Interest in systematic, quantitative, or programmatic trading approaches; coding or data analysis experience is a plus but not required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across investment teams and external counterparties
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and a disciplined approach to risk management and controls
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Curiosity to explore how AI can improve workflows, with sound judgment in validating outputs and aligning with policies, risk standards, and ethical use
- Bachelor's degree required; CFA designation, MBA, or other relevant professional credentials are considered a plus

Pay
The indicative gross base salary range for this full-time role:
- United States - Illinois - Chicago: min USD 145,000 - max USD 200,000 per annum
- United States - New York - New York: min USD 145,000 - max USD 200,000 per annum
