About the role
The Cincinnati Specialty Underwriters Insurance Company is seeking an experienced excess and surplus lines underwriter in Georgia. This position requires residency within the territory or near the Fairfield, OH Headquarters. The pay range for this role is $75,000 - $140,000 annually, determined by factors such as education, experience, location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Additionally, eligible associates may receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance.
Responsibilities
- Work in partnership with producers and an assigned underwriting assistant to solicit, underwrite, and price new and renewal surplus lines commercial property and casualty business.
- Determine individual risk acceptability, pricing, coverage, terms, and conditions.
- Develop, analyze, and evaluate information and exposures for complex risks.
- Achieve production and loss ratio goals within assigned regional territory.
- Determine the need for and secure appropriate reinsurance on individual accounts.
- Mentor and train underwriters and underwriting assistants.
- Develop successful business relationships with producers and reinsurers.
- Research new products and coverage forms.
- Travel within assigned territory, which may include some overnight stays.
Requirements
- Property and casualty underwriting experience.
- Proficient use of Microsoft® Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong decision-making, analytical, and negotiating abilities.
- Desire to build relationships and listen effectively.
- Skilled use of verbal communication to explain, negotiate, and present information.
- An understanding of when to use verbal or written communication.
- A valid driver's license.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or extensive relevant excess and surplus lines underwriting experience.
- 5+ years of experience working with commercial lines property and casualty products.
- Prior excess and surplus casualty underwriting experience with a carrier, broker, or MGA.
- ASLI or CPCU designations preferred.
