Excavator Operator - Jacksonville, NC

Responsibilities

• Perform documented pre-shift 360 walk-around inspection of the equipment
• Start engines, move throttles, switches, and levers, and depress pedals to operate such stated equipment
• Couple machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members, as well as guiding others assisting / supporting your activity
• Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, and material
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies
• Must perform daily maintenance and housekeeping, including inspection, checking fluid levels, greasing, and cleaning
• Follow safety policies and procedures
• Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience operating excavators – GPS experience preferred
• Must have finished grading operating experience
• Underground Utilities Excavation & installation experience a plus
• Experience with basic tools and be mechanically inclined
• Capable of lifting 50 lbs
• A thorough knowledge of safety precautions while working
• Work requires exposure to construction site environments having extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, smoke, hazardous substances, and loud noise levels
• Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to the work schedule
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
• Provide personal transportation to and from the jobsite
• Willingness to learn and adapt to change
