About the role

Ensures a quality environment for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington staff, patients, and visitors by performing low level maintenance, routine safety and security surveillance, and cleaning areas and surfaces using approved disinfectants, equipment, and supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans patient, staff, and public areas using the appropriate cleaning solutions and the 7-step cleaning procedure.
  • Cleans corridors and public areas using the 4-step cleaning procedure.
  • Safely operates electric and battery-powered cleaning equipment such as vacuums, buffers, burnishes, autoscrubbers, and extractors.
  • Moves furniture and equipment for cleaning, re-arranging, and meeting room setups.
  • Removes trash and debris, transporting it properly protected.
  • Performs project completion tasks such as scrubbing, stripping, and refinishing floors, bonnet boffing, and extracting carpets.
  • Extracts upholstery, cleans wheelchairs, lights, vents, and radiators.
  • Close and removes sharps containers when full.
  • Moves clean and/or soiled linen carts to/from patient and other areas, properly protected.
  • Discharges and transfers cleaning materials.
  • Wears protective attire for safety purposes.
  • Functions as a contributing member of an Environmental Services Team.
  • Conducts routine surveillance of the interior building spaces and takes appropriate action to prevent violations of KFHPW safety and security policies.
  • Locks doors, arms alarms as required.
  • Sweeps exterior sidewalks adjacent to entryways.
  • Performs snow removal duties as needed.
  • Assists with PA setup, clock adjustments, minor telephone repairs, lamp replacements, initial checks on nurse call stations, replacing pillow speakers, electrical outlet checks, induction unit cleaning, thermostat adjustments, drain treatment and clearing, toilet clearing, and aerator repair.
  • Performs low-level maintenance such as unplugging toilets and sinks.
  • Knowledge of chemical usage and dilutions.
  • Removes medical waste receptacles, labels and stores them according to procedure.
  • Thoroughly cleans working equipment.
  • Stocks all paper products and soap.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of custodial experience in an outpatient setting.
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED).

Qualifications

  • Communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

Skills

  • Knowledge of chemical usage and dilutions.
  • Ability to operate various cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures thoroughly.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor.
  • Ability to maintain a safe working environment.
