Major Responsibilities
- Scrubs, strips, polishes and refinishes floors using appropriate equipment and/or supplies.
- Operates various types of cleaning equipment, both mechanical and electrical, i.e. ringers, vacuum, electric floor machines, sweepers, etc.
- Clean or sanitize after emergency spill as requested.
- Analyzes floor or carpet conditions and determines proper cleaning techniques, following department processes.
- Maintains hard surface floors and carpets following department process.
- Exhibits timely and satisfactory completion of all job assignments.
- Exercises initiative by seeking additional tasks from group leader or other associates when time permits.
- Uses and maintains equipment, keeping clean and in good repair.
- Keeps work area in orderly, clean and safe condition.
- Collects hazardous and medical waste according to hospital processes/DOT/RSPA training provided hazardous and pharmaceutical.
- Replaces and transports sharps containers to waste staging area.
- Collects soiled linen.
- Removes and disposes of rubbish from selected areas, following safety guidelines.
- Separates regular and recycle trash according to procedure.
- Operates waste compactors safely and efficiently.
- Clean and/or sanitizes all garbage/waste disposal containers.

- Provides support for the following services.
- Completes discharge room clean following hospital process.
- Completes OR cleaning following hospital processes.
Commitment to Professional Growth and Competence
- Attends all mandatory departmental and hospital meetings and in-services.
- Completes annual CBT's required.
- Follows written department goals and objectives, and review annually with Manager.
- Seeks education and learning experiences in areas of identified growth needs and review progress during annual evaluation.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Job responsibilities involve walking, standing, bending, climbing and lifting throughout the work day.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.
- For lifts over 35 pounds, lifting equipment is expected to be used or lift with at least one other associate when available.
- Unique lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case by case basis.
Education/Experience Required
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
- 1-2 years experience with prior housekeeping experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
- Able to operate small electrical equipment i.e., vacuum cleaners.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Able to communicate effectively in English as related to the performance of the essential job activities outlined (including reading and comprehending chemical labels and other safety materials).
