Placement within the salary range of $17.00 - $23.80 (hourly) is dependent on relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement is guided by the collective bargaining agreement rules.

  • 16 hours per week
  • Every Saturday and Sunday, 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM
  • Casual (non-benefited) position

About the role

This position is located at Catherine Gratz Griffin Lake Forest Hospital. The EVS Tech II reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans and maintains patient rooms, offices, public areas, treatment rooms, and other assigned areas daily, including collecting and removing trash, changing bed linens, and sanitizing all surfaces.
  • Follows policies and procedures on patient isolation and contact precautions as necessary.
  • Stocks paper items and other supplies in assigned areas as necessary or designated.
  • Maintains cart and equipment in clean, working condition and stores in appropriate storage area.
  • Promotes safety in the workplace by using wet floor signs, PPE, and ensuring housekeeping carts or supplies are not left unattended.
  • Uses chemicals and equipment safely and effectively, ensuring proper dilution and labeling.
  • Notifies supervisor of equipment needing repairs and reports all safety hazards to manager.
  • Communicates any issues to supervisor, including inability to complete schedule, and proactively addresses observed deficiencies.
  • Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships with hospital personnel while ensuring confidentiality of patient information.
  • Exhibits the ability to articulate designed scripting model to each customer served.
  • Uses organizational and unit/department resources efficiently and manages work schedule to complete tasks on time.
  • Contributes to opportunities and processes for continuous improvement, cost reduction, and streamlining work processes.
  • Presents a friendly, approachable, professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Provides accurate information and timely updates to patients and customers, addressing questions and concerns promptly.
  • Uses effective service recovery skills to solve problems or service breakdowns.
  • Demonstrates teamwork by helping co-workers within and across departments, communicating effectively, and respecting diverse opinions and styles.

Requirements

  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Effective communication with patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Ability to use proper tracking and communication tools utilized by the department.
  • Ability to work independently.

Qualifications

Preferred: One to three years of environmental services experience in a healthcare or hospitality environment.
