About the role

The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for providing a clean environment to all assigned areas including but not limited to resident rooms, offices, bathrooms, and storage areas. This job description describes the general nature and level of work but does not state or imply these are the only duties assigned. Employees may be required to perform other incidental or secondary job-related duties as requested by management.

Responsibilities

  • Gather necessary equipment and chemicals as outlined in Environmental Policy and Procedures.
  • Clean sinks daily and furniture within resident rooms.
  • Clean and sanitize unit bathrooms, shower rooms, utility rooms, medications rooms, and nourishment stations.
  • Maintain adequate supplies in all assigned areas; check and restock paper and soap products as necessary.
  • Check and empty trashcans; disinfect cans and replace liners as needed.
  • Disinfect interior and exterior toilet bowls, bathroom stall walls, and shower stall walls as outlined in department policy.
  • Dust mop and sweep floors, including corners and edges.
  • Use the photo card file to identify residents before assisting with any beverage, food consumption, or cigarette smoking.
  • Participate in in-service training programs prior to performing tasks involving potential exposure to blood/body fluids.
  • Follow isolation instructions if a caddy isolation is on a resident door.
  • Report any non-operating or broken equipment to supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Use wet floor signs when mopping or disinfecting floors.
  • Perform daily sweeping, mopping, and burnishing of main corridor and resident room floors.
  • Assist other environmental service team members in moving furniture within resident rooms.

Requirements

  • High school education or GED preferred.
  • Relevant experience in Environmental Services, including housekeeping, laundry, service technician, or floor technician.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the public.
  • Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm; willingness to handle residents based on their current maturity level.

Pay

$15.43 per hour.
