This position is responsible for performing general housekeeping tasks to maintain the facility and associated buildings in a sanitary, safe, and attractive condition and to meet hospital and Joint Commission standards.
Responsibilities
- Clean and disinfect assigned areas using department cleaning procedures.
- Use cleaning chemicals properly according to Joint Commission and OSHA standards.
- Understand procedures and properly dispose of infectious waste and trash.
- Handle and clean up emergency spills per department guidelines, Joint Commission, and OSHA standards.
- Follow all infection prevention practices (e.g., proper cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, standard & isolation precautions, as well as proper donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)).
- Maintain work and storage areas following established policy and procedures to ensure safety.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated communication skills to include differentiating color-coded labels and/or chemicals as well as following written and/or verbal directions.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule when needed to meet the needs of the department.
- Demonstrated professional housekeeping experience (preferred).
Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and assess customer needs.
- Frequent interactions with customers requiring clear communication and understanding of spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy, including frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment, including items of varying weights up to and including heavy items.
- This position requires working throughout the facility in a variety of assigned areas such as the Emergency Department, Operating Room, medical office buildings, lobbies, patient rooms, and discharge areas.
Schedule
- 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM shift, including weekends and holidays.
- Flexibility required to accommodate occasional short-notice scheduling needs and shift coverage opportunities.
Pay
The hourly range for this position is $17.68 - $22.99. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
