EVS Laundry Technician

About the Role

The primary purpose of this job position is to perform the day-to-day activities of the Laundry Department in accordance with current Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing The Overlook/MHS operating and safety standards in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that work and cleaning schedules are followed as closely as practical.
• Attend departmental and staff meetings as directed or called.
• Perform all duties independently with little or no supervision.
• Attend and participate in in-service education classes, on-the-job training programs, etc., as directed.
• Attend and participate in annual OSHA and CDC in-service training programs for hazard communication, TB management, and bloodborne pathogens standards.
• Perform day-to-day Laundry functions as assigned in a safe and efficient manner.
• Discard infectious waste into appropriate containers.
• Maintain cleanliness of the environment, including bathrooms, offices, mechanical areas, behind washers and dryers, carts, etc.
• Clean and polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, etc., in resident rooms and common areas.
• Remove all trash and linen from the department area.
• Clean floors, including dusting, dry/wet mopping, disinfecting, burnishing, waxing, etc.
• Clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, and spot cleaning.
• Remove dirt, dust, grease, films, etc., from surfaces using proper cleaning and disinfecting methods.
• Discard waste and trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacles with plastic liners; spot clean inside and outside of trash receptacles when needed.
• Ensure work assignment areas are clean and that equipment, supplies, etc., are properly stored throughout the day and before leaving for breaks, meals, and end of shift.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment as per training, signage, and product labels; adhere to safety regulations.
• Ensure an adequate supply of EVS supplies to perform daily tasks.
• Report burned-out light bulbs, exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, etc.
• Assist others in lifting heavy equipment and supplies when requested.
• Clean work/supply carts and equipment as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and security of all facility, medical staff, and resident data.
• Abide by all relevant Overlook policies and procedures.
• Assist in the orientation and training of new Team Members.
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate required regulatory documentation.
• Complete all annual training and education requirements.
• Use The Overlook’s Work Order system (Worxhub) for customer requests and preventative maintenance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Generalized knowledge in the use of laundry equipment.
• Prior experience in long-term care facility laundry is helpful but not necessary.
• Good communication skills with co-workers and residents.
• Valid Driver’s License.
