About the role

CORA Good Shepherd Mediation is seeking a Part Time Intake Specialist in its busy Eviction Diversion Program (EDP), to work on the front lines of the City of Philadelphia's nationally recognized Eviction Diversion Program (EDP), which provides an opportunity for landlords and tenants to resolve residential rental disputes without going to court. CORA GSM processes 500-600 EDP applications (intakes) weekly and manages the mediation portion of the EDP.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve a strong working understanding of the EDP program and its various service offerings.
  • Develop expertise in all application requirements, as well as policies and procedures for application processing.
  • Take responsibility for a large number of complex and multi-faceted applications each day from the City's QuickBase portal to guide their entry into the program. For each application:
    • Identify whether it possesses all necessary components for approval.
    • Verify that it is designated for the correct set of program services based on participant needs and program capabilities.
    • Approve or deny based on established criteria.
    • If Denied, provide appropriate instructions for correction.
  • Engage with landlords by phone and email to assist in getting their applications approved.
  • Conduct outreach to landlords to discuss their specific needs and advise them on the best pathway for their needs.
  • Answer questions from landlords and tenants about EDP, rental assistance, and mediation.
  • Screen for potentially fraudulent applications and report promptly to supervisor.
  • Assist with other tasks as needed.
  • Have the opportunity to observe mediations and to participate in mediation trainings offered by CORA GSM.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and QuickBase.
  • Strong attention to detail is a MUST.
  • Experience with data entry and record keeping.
  • Ability to quickly and easily adapt to program and software changes.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Professional written and oral communication skills.
  • Some knowledge of mediation or landlord-tenant issues in Philadelphia a plus, but not required.

Pay & Schedule

  • Part-time position, typically 15-20 hours per week, most of which must be during regular business hours (9 AM – 5 PM).
  • Starting Rate: $19.94 per hour. Rate increases based on experience and credentials.
  • Most work is remote, with required weekly virtual meetings and occasional in-person trainings and meetings at the CORA Services building in Fox Chase.
