Events Set-Up/Server

Job Description

$14.00 per hour! Due to the minimum wage increase at MSU, the starting rate for this position is going to be $16.00 effective 8/9/2026. Those hired prior to the 8/9/2026 will also be brought to the new minimum on this effective date.

Join the Events Team at Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center, that helps serve the hotel and MSU Athletic Venues, including Breslin Center and Munn Ice Arena, for all types of events!

Responsibilities

• Provides exceptional customer service by delivering outstanding Spartan experiences (DOSE)
• Prepare room for events: set tablecloths, dishes, glassware, and silverware as directed
• Assist in clearing, cleaning, and breaking down the room after an event
• Serve guests food and drinks, including plated, buffet, etc., during the event as required
• Accommodate any needs for reasonable special requests
• Ensure guest satisfaction
• Follow directions as detailed by the Banquet Lead, Banquet Captain, or Banquet Manager
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Be able to work 15-20 hours per week
• Be able to work morning, lunch, and evening shifts
• Be able to work weekends
• Be able to work between classes when your schedule allows
• Punctuality, positive attitude, and attention detail and provide great customer service
• Work with a team in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Able to work flexible hours and shifts

Physical Demands

• Be able to lift up to 45 pounds
• Realize the position will require you to stand for long periods of time

Work Hours

• Hours range from 15-20 hours per week and are variable based on the company’s needs and student availability
• Must be able to work 15-20 hours per week, including weekends
• Work 2 Lunch Shifts per week between 11 am and 2 pm, Mon-Fri
• Work shifts between classes when needed
