Events & Operations Associate
About the role
Pluralis Research is pioneering Protocol Learning—a fully decentralised way to train and deploy AI models that opens this layer to individuals rather than well-resourced corporates. By pooling compute from many participants, incentivising their efforts, and preventing any single party from controlling a model's full weights, we're creating a genuinely open, collaborative path to frontier-scale AI.
As our Events & Operations Associate, you'll own how Pluralis shows up in the world—our conference presence, workshops, offsites, and hosted events—and keep the operational machinery behind a fast-moving research company running cleanly. This is a hands-on, execution-first role working directly with our CEO and Chief of Staff.
In the past year alone, we've run five to six events at ICML, locked in an official NeurIPS workshop, launched a Tech Talks series, and opened planning for ICLR—and we need someone who can own all of it end to end.
Responsibilities
- Own event logistics end to end: team offsites, conference presence (NeurIPS, ICLR and beyond), our Tech Talks series, and dinners and hosted meetings for our CEO.
- Drive post-event follow-through: capture details, summaries, and learnings in one source of truth so every event makes the next one better.
- Systemise travel and scheduling for our CEO with an agent-first mindset—the goal is to build dialled, repeatable systems, not to be a permanent EA.
- Provide broad operational support across the business: executing onboarding flows, polishing documents and communications, and standing up our San Francisco office presence.
Requirements
- A track record of flawless execution—you ship, you follow through, and things you own don't fall through the cracks.
- Demonstrated experience running events end to end: venues, logistics, budgets, vendors, on-the-day delivery.
- A systems mindset—you'd rather build something once that runs itself than repeat a task forever.
- Comfort rotating across functions in a small, fast-moving team without waiting for direction.
- Strong written communication—much of this role is turning chaos into clear documentation.
- High discretion working closely with founders and executives.
- Professional-level English proficiency (written and spoken).
- Ability to work across timezones and collaborate with a diverse, distributed team (Pluralis is remote across Australia and the US).
Nice to Have
- Experience coordinating conference presence or side events in tech, AI/ML, research, or crypto communities.
- Hands-on use of AI tools and agents to automate your own workflows.
- Experience in an early-stage startup through a period of rapid growth or fundraising.
About Pluralis
Backed by Union Square Ventures and other tier-1 investors, we're a world-class, deeply technical team of ML researchers. Pluralis is unapologetically ideological. We view the world as a better place if we are able to implement what we are attempting, and Protocol Learning as the only plausible approach to preventing a handful of massive corporations from monopolising model development, access, and release, and achieving massive economic capture.
We only hire in Australia and the United States, with limited visa sponsorship available for these countries.
