Event Technician, Audio Visual (Part-Time Casual) - Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa
About the Role
A Technician is responsible for the setup and operation of basic/small-scale audiovisual systems in a hospitality environment while ensuring complete customer satisfaction. This position reports to an Operations Manager, Operations Director, or Director of Event Technology.
Responsibilities
- Equipment Operation: Ensures flawlessly executed events through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of basic audiovisual equipment.
- Customer Service: Exceeds the expectations and needs of internal and external customers. Maintains positive client relationships through effective communication. Meets with guests on-site to ensure their needs are met and equipment is functioning properly. Monitors events and checks in on customers throughout the day. Understands and fosters the hotel/client relationship.
- Technical Ability: Demonstrates basic operational ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment and software issues. Handles challenges and changes in a timely and professional manner.
- Systems Knowledge: Understands company processes, follows procedures, and completes systems entry and paperwork accurately. Uses equipment sheets to determine scheduled setups and breakdowns. Interacts with staff and outside vendors for equipment needs. Increases revenue through floor up-selling techniques. Works with clients to finalize invoices and completes order entries in Navigator as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required; Associate’s degree preferred.

- 1 year of customer service or hospitality experience preferred.
- 1 year of audio-visual experience or equivalent in an educational environment preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required for team members operating Company vehicles; additional DOT requirements may apply.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Work Environment
Work is performed in a hotel/convention center environment with moderate exposure to outdoor temperatures, dirt, sand, and/or dust. Conditions vary from moderately quiet to noisy volumes. Team members use high-end audiovisual equipment and electrical components and may be exposed to heights via lifts and ladders. Work may occur in multiple hotel locations, with irregular hours and on-call status, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Team members must adhere to appearance guidelines as defined by Encore.
Pay
Hourly pay range: $15.64 - $20.33. Compensation is determined based on qualifications, location, relevant work experience, and skills. Some positions may be eligible for overtime, bonuses, or incentives.
