Event Technical Specialist, Audio - Charlotte Convention Center

About the role

The Technical Specialist is responsible for the technical setup and operation of enhanced mid-level production events in a hospitality environment, ensuring the utmost in client satisfaction. This position reports to an Associate Director or Director of Project Management.

Responsibilities

• Ensures flawlessly executed events through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of advanced audiovisual equipment.
• Troubleshoots technical issues and resolves problems quickly as they arise.
• Complies with all company security and safety measures, ensuring equipment is secure from theft and/or damage.
• Provides excellent service and strives to exceed the expectations of internal and external customers.
• Maintains positive client relationships through effective communication and collaboration with internal teams.
• Supervises and directs other technicians during events, performing advanced pre/during/post-event work.
• Assists with proper security, storage, inventory, transportation, and maintenance of equipment.
• Performs inventory and forecasting of equipment needs.
• Creates an atmosphere that fosters the development of technical and leadership skills in other employees.
• Provides mentorship and coaching to technical, sales, and operations team members.
• Develops self as a subject matter expert and stays current with technology and industry trends.

Requirements

• 3+ years of event technology experience with a specialty in Audio, Lighting, Projection, or Video is required.
• 3-4 years of customer service or hospitality experience is preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
• Must complete all required training and certifications within 60 days of start date (external applicants) or as determined by Encore’s Global Learning Training Program (internal applicants).
• Ability to interact professionally with a diverse workforce, customer base, and senior-level management.
• Valid driver’s license may be required for positions operating company vehicles; additional DOT requirements may apply.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Work Environment

• Work is performed in hotel/convention center or warehouse environments with moderate exposure to outdoor temperatures, dirt, sand, and/or dust.
• Working conditions vary from moderately quiet to noisy volumes.
• Exposure to heights via lifts and ladders, and use of high-end audiovisual equipment and electrical components.
• May be required to work in multiple hotel or venue locations.
• Irregular hours and on-call status, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must adhere to appearance guidelines as defined by Encore.

Pay

Hourly pay range: $22.90 - $29.77. Compensation is determined based on qualifications, location, travel, relevant work experience, and skills. Final compensation may include eligibility for overtime, bonuses, or incentives.
