Event Staff Security

About the role
Event Staff Security Officers utilize their outstanding customer service skills to provide crowd control services for events such as concerts, sporting events, trade shows, and conferences at various locations. Officers ensure the safety of patrons, employees, and visitors at both large and small-scale events.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of patrons, guests, and performers.
- Maintain a hospitality-focused security brand with all clients, guests, and co-workers.
- Manage access control and follow venue-specific guidelines.
- Conduct foot patrols as required.
- Demonstrate reliability by reporting for shifts on time, in the prescribed uniform, and presentable.
- Balance outstanding customer service with enforcement of client policies and rules.
- Use de-escalation techniques, such as verbal judo, to defuse situations.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED).
- Must not have been convicted of any felonies.
- Must not have been convicted of misdemeanors related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information or evidence, controlled substances (including marijuana), or two or more alcohol-related offenses.
- Must pass a drug screening at the time of hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana).
- Must adhere to the company’s Uniform and Appearance policy and present a friendly, positive, and professional image.
- Must possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to de-escalate situations non-confrontationally. Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking, and understanding) is required.
- If driving company or client vehicles, or using your own vehicle for work, must possess a valid Michigan driver’s license with a clean driving record (fewer than 3 moving violations, fewer than 2 at-fault accidents, and no major violations in the last 3 years).
- Must be willing to become CPR/First Aid/AED certified and capable of administering care in emergencies.
- Must be able to move quickly, including running short distances, to respond in emergencies.
- Must be physically and mentally sound, able to remain alert during shifts, and capable of sitting, standing, and walking long distances (including stairs) for 8–12 hours.
- Must be able to work indoors or outdoors in all seasons.
- Must be able to use hands and fingers to manipulate keys, tools, and other equipment.
- Must be able to hear conversations (in person or via 2-way radio) in noisy environments.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (70 lbs. for armed security officers).
- Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision.
Pay
$18.00/hour (site dependent).
Schedule
- Current openings: Evenings and weekends (limited day shifts).
Location
Clarkston, MI – Southeast Michigan.
