Event Staff - Ice Sheet

About the role

Under the general guidance of Ice Sheet Event Managers, Event Staff will assist in setup and cleanup of all ice arena event operations including concessions, ticket sales, cashiering, skate rental, score keeping, and event monitoring.

All part-time positions require a general knowledge of janitorial processes and functions, and each team member will perform janitorial duties each shift.

Responsibilities

• Assist managers in preparing for events throughout the rink in various functions
• Attend training for and maintain proper food handling habits
• Maintain inventory counts
• Provide customer service
• Prepare food and beverage orders as requested
• Maintain cleanliness of concession stands and other work areas
• Assist in setup and cleanup of assigned areas of the rink for each event
• Perform janitorial duties each shift
• Duties may include food & beverage service, ticket selling, cashiering, score keeping, skate rentals, and event monitoring

Requirements

• Any equivalent combination of experience in money handling, cashiering, event staff, concessions, and janitorial work is preferred
• Must obtain a food handler permit and provide the County with a copy
• Must be prepared to work nights, weekends (including Sundays), and some holidays up to 19 hours per week through the end of the peak season (usually the last week in April)
• Must be able to lift 25-50 pounds frequently
• Must be able to stand, kneel, walk up and down stairs quickly, and skate on ice
• Must have proficient communication, critical thinking, and time management skills
• Must be a team player and take direction from managers
• Must have excellent customer service skills and be able to communicate effectively with the public and user groups
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check

Physical Demands

• Hear, speak, count money, write, and fill out paperwork/reports
• Use hands and fingers
• Stand, kneel, walk up and down stairs quickly, and skate on ice
• Frequently lift 25-50 pounds
• Encounter flying pucks and sharp objects such as skate blades
• Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

The noise level in this job is moderate to quite loud.

Pay

$10.45 per hour

Schedule

Part-time, up to 19 hours per week. Hours include nights, weekends (including Sundays), and some holidays through the end of the peak season (usually the last week in April).
