Position Overview

The Event Manager supports the planning, coordination, and successful execution of events hosted at assigned KANA facilities, including the Kodiak Marketplace. This role combines event logistics, customer service, facility coordination, and audiovisual (AV) support to ensure meetings, conferences, trainings, and community events run smoothly from start to finish. The ideal candidate is highly organized, customer-focused, technically savvy, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where no two events are the same.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate event logistics for meetings, conferences, trainings, community events, and special programs
  • Aid clients and internal departments with event planning, scheduling, and facility use requirements
  • Enter event details, schedules, and client information into event management software
  • Prepare event spaces by arranging furniture, signage, supplies, and room configurations
  • Ensure event spaces, storage areas, kitchens, and common areas remain organized, clean, and event-ready
  • Serve as the primary on-site contact during assigned events
  • Represent the Kodiak Marketplace and KANA at community outreach and promotional events as needed
  • Collaborate with internal departments on marketing and promotional efforts for events and programs

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required
  • An associate degree in Business Administration, Hospitality, Marketing, Management, Information Technology, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum two years of experience in event coordination, hospitality, customer service, venue operations, audiovisual support, or a related field
  • Experience with audiovisual systems, livestreaming, presentation technologies, or event production preferred
  • Familiarity with OBS and other audiovisual software highly preferred
  • Strong organizational, planning, and multitasking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and remain calm under pressure during live events
  • Knowledge of Alaska Native culture and community engagement preferred
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive company vehicles when needed required
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and special events as needed
