Responsibilities
- Set-up based on the specific requirements for each event and breakdown of event space
- Respond to public safety incidents to determine suitable actions and bring to the attention of the appropriate personnel
- Ensure conditional readiness of facility from a life safety and patron experience lens by assisting in property maintenance and beautification activities
- Ensure public and staff safety rules, regulations, and policies are complied with during events and during working shifts, including fire safety laws and procedures for staff, patrons, and volunteers
- Maintain facilities and restrooms before, during, and after events
- Check for and report unauthorized use of facilities or other unusual and improper conditions
- Perform traffic control during events and performances
- Ensure proper event set-up and break-down, oversees janitorial duties and limited technical needs before, during, and after events
Requirements
- Valid email address
- Ability to take direction and respond in English
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow through
- Ability to deal with last-minute changes and deadlines
- Professional demeanor towards clients and co-workers
- Knowledge of public assembly and fire/building codes
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
- Experience in crowd control, security, hospitality, food service, and other aspects of public assembly
- Volunteer relations skills
- First Aid/CPR Certified by Red Cross of California and kept current
Qualifications
- 18 or over; students ages 14 or over must provide a work permit
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking
- Required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally
- Must be able to respond quickly to sound and verbally communicate to others
- Must be able to work weekends and/or evenings and overtime as needed
- Must be able to work during inclement weather conditions on occasion
- Must be able to ascend and descend ladders and stairs
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently
- Must be able to operate a keyboard, phone, and radio
- Must be able to wear personal protective gear as needed
- Must be able to apply specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to focus
Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job with or without accommodation
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions that pertain to a multi-use venue and facility
