About the role

As part of our Youth Services Department’s vision, the Evening Supervisor will promote and develop a safe and engaging learning environment for youth. Recreational activities, team-building games, theme-based lessons, and trips are integral parts of the program. The role supports growth, leadership, and positive self-image in all young people at Grand Street Settlement sites.

Schedule

• September 2026 – June 2027
• Monday–Thursday, 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM
• Saturday, 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM
• 25 hours per week
• Performance-based; contingent on funding availability

Pay

$22.00 per hour

Requirements

• High school diploma (college degree preferred)
• Youth development experience
• Proven ability to work with various age groups
• Experience working with diverse populations
• Good conflict mediation and public relations skills
• Strong time-management skills; ability to handle simultaneous assignments with accuracy and meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and with minimal guidance
• Capacity to thrive under pressure while working on multiple tasks and projects
• Team player with demonstrated commitment to working with urban youth and young adults from an asset-based perspective
• Ability to set up and maintain a work environment that challenges gender stereotypes and is LGBTQIA+-friendly
• Flexible, cooperative, and willing to work in a team environment
• NYS Food Handler’s Certificate
• Must successfully complete: NYSDOH Fingerprinting Screening, New York State Clearance Review Background Check, 3 Reference Checks, Physical with updated TB Test (fees may apply)
• If offered the position, must submit a $25 fee for NY State Clearance Review

Responsibilities

• Complete program trainings as per school-age child care requirements
• Provide leadership and strategic direction to full-time and part-time program staff
• Supervise all program staff and delivery of services to ensure daily, weekly, and monthly goals, targets, and performance outcomes are met
• Problem-solve and intervene directly with youth in groups
• Maintain adequate staff-to-participant supervision during all activities and trips
• Plan and facilitate remote activities for youth that develop their social, emotional, and/or academic skills
• Facilitate group management and activities on online platforms
• Work collaboratively with co-workers and provide resources for youth through remote engagement sessions
• Supervise a group of children and participate in activities and trips; provide and maintain a safe working environment
• Maintain adequate supplies in first aid and safety kits
• Maintain medical and contact information for each participant
• Responsible for maintaining a daily log of all incidents/injuries
• Address conflicts that have potential to undermine community cohesion and trigger violent clashes
• Prepare attendance reports and other required reports
• Know and adhere to all regulations and procedures outlined in the safety plan
• Refer participants and their families to relevant community resources
• Complete all necessary paperwork, manage registration forms, process identification cards for program participants, and support data input into DYCD online system
• Communicate effectively with all students while remaining professional and motivating them by setting an example in responsibility, timeliness, organization, attendance, and professionalism
• Perform other duties as assigned by program supervisors
