Evening Shelter Associate

About the role

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Denver seeks an Evening Shelter Associate to join our team. This position is available on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.

Responsibilities

• Fulfills roles and guidelines outlined in the operating manual to maintain order in the living environment.
• Accurately and promptly completes required documentation and data entry, including logging participant information.
• Maintains awareness of ongoing events and updates by reviewing logs.
• Enforces shelter rules uniformly and responds appropriately to participant needs and crises.
• Communicates with staff to address participant issues and provides referrals.
• Supports and adheres to Catholic Charities' vision, mission, values, and Code of Ethics.
• Ensures confidentiality of participant and agency information.
• Answers phones and provides internal and external referrals.
• Assists with safety desk tasks, including verifying urine analysis results and completing breathalyzer tests.

Requirements

• Experience working with people in crisis.
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of word processing and typing.
• Understanding of the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.

Qualifications

• Attended some college working towards an Associate or Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS).
• 3 to 6 months of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay

$24.00 per hour. $1.00 bilingual differential.
