Responsibilities
- Perform minor repairs, installation, and maintenance of departmental equipment.
- Ensure the effective implementation of the SuiteCare program.
- Oversee the daily operation of the pool, including chemical balancing and cleaning.
- Monitor the hotel life safety systems and work closely with contractors to resolve any defects.
- Conduct routine repairs on all hotel equipment.
- Operate a preventative maintenance system on hotel equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues with a working knowledge of hotel systems.
- Be familiar with the types of equipment in the hotel and its importance to overall operations.
- Maintain knowledge in plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, kitchen equipment, and laundry equipment.
- Read and understand operational manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints.
- Understand water distribution systems, pumps, hydronics, and drainage systems.
- Know building electrical systems and electrical distribution systems.
- Operate, troubleshoot, and repair boilers.
- Understand generator and fire pump operation.
- Learn and manage the hotel’s life safety systems.
- Conduct daily inspections of hotel public and back-of-house spaces; correct defects as needed.
- Assist in providing building security when needed.
- Respond to emergency and after-hours calls in a timely manner.
- Train staff on basic functions such as changing light bulbs, clearing plumbing blockages, and troubleshooting guest room door locks.
- Provide exceptional guest service at all times.
- Follow established procedures to prevent the spread of COVID or other infectious diseases.
- Respond to and resolve guest room defects reported by housekeeping staff.
- Complete all reasonable requests by management within ability.
Requirements
- Minimum lifting of 40 lbs.
- Certified in Type I & II refrigerants with a current certificate.
- Ability to verbally communicate effectively with guests and co-workers.
- Physical ability to push, pull, bend, stoop, and reach upward.
- Some exposure to cleaning chemicals.
- Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.
- Use safe work practices and report all accidents and safety violations.
- Two years of hotel experience with an extended stay brand or similar experience.
