Responsibilities
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times; be attentive, helpful, and courteous to guests, managers, and fellow employees.
- Set up the bar according to hotel standards and ensure prompt and efficient guest service.
- Prepare beverages and cocktails following the hotel’s mixing and presentation standards.
- Serve guests with all beverage requirements in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
- Break down the bar after functions, storing liquor, supplies, and equipment according to hotel standards.
- Follow all state liquor laws and hotel policies, including procedures for serving liquor to avoid issues with intoxicated guests.
- Know hotel services, facilities, fire exit locations, and fire extinguisher locations; operate equipment as needed.
- Respond to guests’ problems, complaints, and accidents.
- Keep the bar and service areas clean and tidy during service.
- Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
- Attend all required hotel meetings and trainings.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
- Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
- Maximize productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions.
- Handle problems effectively, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving issues as necessary.
- Understand and apply complex information from various sources to meet objectives.
- Cross-train in other hotel-related areas as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of information and show initiative in anticipating guest or operational needs.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent; experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
- Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
- Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
- Ability to stand during entire shift.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
- Strong listening skills to understand and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
- Maintain regular attendance as required by scheduling, which varies according to hotel needs.
