Responsibilities

  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times; be attentive, helpful, and courteous to guests, managers, and fellow employees.
  • Set up the bar according to hotel standards and ensure prompt and efficient guest service.
  • Prepare beverages and cocktails following the hotel’s mixing and presentation standards.
  • Serve guests with all beverage requirements in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Break down the bar after functions, storing liquor, supplies, and equipment according to hotel standards.
  • Follow all state liquor laws and hotel policies, including procedures for serving liquor to avoid issues with intoxicated guests.
  • Know hotel services, facilities, fire exit locations, and fire extinguisher locations; operate equipment as needed.
  • Respond to guests’ problems, complaints, and accidents.
  • Keep the bar and service areas clean and tidy during service.
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
  • Attend all required hotel meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
  • Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
  • Maximize productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Handle problems effectively, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving issues as necessary.
  • Understand and apply complex information from various sources to meet objectives.
  • Cross-train in other hotel-related areas as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information and show initiative in anticipating guest or operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent; experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
  • Ability to stand during entire shift.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  • Strong listening skills to understand and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain regular attendance as required by scheduling, which varies according to hotel needs.
