About the role

The Evaporator Superintendent at Georgia-Pacific's Brunswick Cellulose facility will lead the operation of evaporator systems, including concentrators, incinerator, FC strippers, and NCG/HVLC systems. The position involves developing teams, setting clear expectations, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop supervisors, operators, and technical assistants to build capability and strengthen leadership across the evaporator organization
  • Own and standardize evaporator operating practices to ensure safe, stable, and predictable performance
  • Set, communicate, and enforce clear operating expectations aligned with mill vision and business goals
  • Drive training, SOP development, and knowledge sharing to improve team effectiveness and system understanding
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards while embedding safe work practices into daily operations
  • Promote a strong safety culture by identifying hazards, educating teams, and ensuring audit readiness
  • Improve asset reliability by leading root cause analysis and ensuring completion of corrective actions
  • Partner with reliability and maintenance teams to proactively address equipment health and reduce downtime
  • Support outage planning and align scope with critical assets and system risks
  • Lead capital planning and support long-range asset strategies to drive sustainability and cost effectiveness
  • Review system and production data to identify trends, improve efficiency, and optimize performance
  • Collaborate across operations, maintenance, and support teams to ensure asset readiness and meet mill demand
  • Align evaporator operations with production targets, energy performance, and overall mill profitability

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with evaporator systems, recovery, or chemical processing operations
  • Leadership or supervisory experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and hold teams accountable to performance expectations
  • Experience driving safety performance and ensuring compliance with environmental and regulatory standards
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work across teams and functions

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of reliability practices, root cause analysis, and asset health management
  • Experience supporting outage planning and capital project development
  • Continuous improvement mindset with experience driving operational excellence initiatives
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Paper Science, or a related technical field
