About the Role
This project investigates the underrepresentation of women in math-reliant fields, such as physics, engineering, and economics, focusing on the role of negative stereotypes about women’s math ability. The research will examine 9th grade female students’ dispositional concern about the negative gender stereotype in mathematics and its relation to math achievement.
The project will also explore potential mediators and protective factors, such as growth mindset, to provide practical implications for alleviating the effects of negative stereotype concern.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research on the impact of negative gender stereotypes on 9th grade female students’ math achievement.
- Examine the role of growth mindset as a protective factor against stereotype threat.
- Analyze data to identify mediators and practical interventions for reducing stereotype concern.
- Contribute to academic publications and presentations based on findings.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field.
- Experience in research on stereotype threat, growth mindset, or related areas in educational psychology.
- Strong background in quantitative research methods and data analysis.
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals on topics related to learning mindsets, stereotype threat, or adolescent development.
