Amigos School, located in the Cambridgeport neighborhood, is a comprehensive PK–8 school dedicated to a strong tradition of excellence in bilingual English and Spanish education. About the Role

The Pre-Kindergarten Two-Way Extended Term Substitute will provide instruction to students in Spanish (80%) and English (20%) within a self-contained classroom. The successful candidate will collaborate with grade-level, cluster, and whole-school teams, including specialists in ESL, SSL, and Special Education.

  • Plan and implement an academically and linguistically active, developmentally appropriate, and socially/culturally responsive curriculum for dual language learners.
  • Align curriculum with the Massachusetts State Frameworks and the local Cambridge Learning Expectations for CPP.
  • Work collaboratively with parents and guardians to involve them in classroom activities and school-wide events.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university, including coursework in first and second language acquisition.
  • High levels or native language proficiency in Spanish and English, including listening, speaking, reading, grammar, and writing (required).
  • Familiarity with and appreciation of Pre-Kindergarten students, their needs, and interests.
  • Previous and successful experience working in a multicultural environment and demonstrated implementation of culturally responsive practices.

Qualifications

  • Massachusetts Certification: Early Childhood PreK-2 (required).
  • Foreign Language (Spanish) Certification PreK-6 (preferred but not required).

Duration: September 2026 through December 2026.
