ETL Developer

About the role

We are seeking an ETL Developer to join the Business Intelligence and Analytics team. The contractor will develop new features and enhancements, refactor legacy ETL code, and fix bugs. This includes data mart design and development, owning tasks through the entire software development life cycle, and collaborating with business analysts, program managers, and other contractors.

Responsibilities

• Develop code changes, unit tests, integration tests, and performance tests following Google’s development standards and best practices.
• Implement changes based on functional requirements from business requirement documents (BRDs), functional specification design documents (FSDs), Technical Design Documents (TDDs), or other written/verbal instructions.
• Own data integration delivery tasks from development through support, including documenting data modeling, implementing code changes, testing, gathering approvals, migrating code, and post-production support.
• Own report/dashboard delivery (PLX) tasks from development through support, including documentation, implementation, testing, approvals, migration, and post-production enhancements.
• Provide support for new and existing data models, ETL pipelines, and data marts.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation via Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides for assigned design, development, and testing tasks.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering projects.
• Experience with SQL or equivalent database querying language.
• Working knowledge of relational databases, including BigQuery, MySQL, and large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong analytical skills with experience identifying, quantifying, and raising business risks related to data quality or non-compliance.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to execute alongside business stakeholders.

Skills

• Experience delivering Business Intelligence solutions (mandatory).
• Preferably experienced in multiple BI aspects.
• Strong SQL skills, including complex queries and data manipulation (mandatory).
• Experience developing ETL or building data pipelines with ETL tools or programming languages (mandatory).
• Experience with databridge, Python programming, shell scripting, or JavaScript (a plus).
• Supply chain experience in the above-mentioned areas.

Location: San Jose, CA (onsite). Duration: 1 year.
