ETF Salesperson, Prime Finance Sales, Assistant Vice President
This is an Assistant Vice President (AVP) level position within the Prime Finance Sales division, responsible for driving sales origination and business development for Citi's Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) offering.
About the role
This role focuses purely on sales origination, client acquisition, and pipeline growth, directly supporting the Lead ETF Salesperson in expanding Citi's market share among buy-side clients (such as hedge funds, asset managers, and pension funds). The AVP ETF Salesperson will act as a key point of contact for prospective clients, introducing Citi's Prime Finance and Delta One capabilities, and coordinating onboarding and initial relationship management. This role is dedicated strictly to sales origination and client coverage within Prime Finance/Delta One and does not involve capital raising, M&A advisory, or coordination with the Institutional Banking team.
Responsibilities
- Refine and implement ETF sales and marketing strategies to expand Citi's client footprint within Prime Finance, maximizing associated revenue. Work closely with the Lead Salesperson and management to establish a clear marketing plan with defined priorities, market penetration, and revenue goals.
- Leverage and expand a contact network within the buy-side community (ETF providers, hedge funds, asset managers, family offices). Understand client needs, introduce Citi's Prime Finance and Delta One offerings, and drive client adoption to increase Citi's revenue and market share.
- Directly support the Lead Delta One/ETF Salesperson in managing the sales pipeline, preparing pitch books, conducting market research, and coordinating client follow-ups to ensure seamless execution of the origination strategy.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders (including ETF trading desks, structuring, product development, legal, and credit risk) to facilitate smooth client onboarding and ensure Citi's product offering aligns with client requirements.
- Forge strong relationships with broader Prime Finance and Global Markets salespeople to leverage Citi's franchise, identifying cross-selling and collaborative origination opportunities.
- Lead strong governance and controls. Work in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, and Finance to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure.
- Build a culture of responsible finance, good governance and supervision, expense discipline, and ethics.
- Appropriately assess risk/reward of transactions and client relationships when making business decisions, demonstrating proper consideration for the firm’s reputation.
- Be familiar with and adhere to Citi’s Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures as defined by your role.
- Obtain and maintain all registrations/licenses which are required for your role, within the appropriate timeframe.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in financial services, with a focus on sales, business development, or client relationship management.
- Experience in a client-facing role working with the buy-side community (ETF providers, hedge funds, asset managers, pension funds).
- Proven track record in sales origination or supporting complex sales cycles within Global Markets or Prime Finance; experience with Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) or equity derivatives is highly preferred.
- Proven interpersonal, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication.
- Broad client relationships within the institutional buy-side space preferred.
