Primary Function
Ensures compliance with all health, safety and environmental requirements, whether imposed by customer, regulator or as part of the ETC/ETC USA standards.Education and Experience
- Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- 3 years’ experience as a Safety Specialist in HSE programs (i.e. OSHA, ISO 14001, ISO 18001).
- Must be able to complete Supervisor Safety Management Training.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Industrial Safety, Chemistry, or equivalent.
- 5 years’ experience as a Safety Specialist in Safety programs including experience in environmental programs.
- Industrial Safety Professional Certification

This job operates in a professional office environment with some potential for radiological exposure expectations of < 100mrem/year. General office, plant/production with low light, confined spaces, near moving parts, radiation, risk of electrical shock, chemicals, vibration, outdoor with extreme cold, heat, wet or dry conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.Supports
- Supports a safe work environment.
- Supports a Safety Conscious Work Environment.
- Perform walk downs.
- Perform SUSA discussions, train in and coordinate SUSA activities.
- Support Workers Comp cases.
- ETC USA lead for environmental issues.
- As required, train to and perform QA functions for which qualifications are met.
- Provide safety training.
- Participate in both safety and quality assurance audits.
- Conduct root cause analysis.
- Develop, monitor and disseminate site safety goals.
- Maintain visibility of the status of site safety goals.
- Be an active part in the HSE Committee and the site Safety Committee.
Other Duties
- Ability to travel both locally and internationally as required.
- Lead ETC USA health initiative efforts.
- Develop and manage ETC USA safety initiative programs.
- Track, trend and address as necessary safety observations.
- Ability to perform basic first aid and CPR.
- Support other job functions including production and Quality Assurance as required.
