Responsibilities

  • Apply Claims Best Practices in file handling to meet department quality standards, as measured by monthly unit audits and file reviews.
  • Organize time and effort to minimize days to close property damage (PD) and comp/collision claims, negotiate physical damage claims equitably, and control expenses through proper repair management.
  • Provide quality customer service by making sound file decisions and communicating them effectively to customers, peers, and managers. Performance is tracked via customer service surveys, phone complaint logs, and DOI complaints.
  • Negotiate bodily injury claims promptly and effectively using incurred medicals and open medical releases. Success is measured by bodily injury cash-out rates (e.g., settlements of $1,000 or less), closing percentages, and average days to resolve bodily injury exposure.
  • Develop and exhibit strong organizational and communication skills while continuously improving personal attitudes, knowledge, and skills.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma is required; a college degree is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience handling automobile claims, with a demonstrated ability to resolve bodily injury claims quickly and efficiently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Mastery of Claims Best Practices, tort laws in the states we operate in, and Department of Insurance regulations, including each state’s fair claims practice act.
  • Ability to make proper claims decisions with minimal management intervention and resolve claims equitably.
  • Proficiency in general office skills (faxing, copying, filing), typing, Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows 95 or above, Microsoft Access, AS/400 system, and internet browsing.
