About the role

The Estimator-Project Manager sells and manages commercial construction projects, building strong relationships with customers and vendors, and leading the project team to complete projects in partnership with the General Contractor and in line with the Owner’s vision.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identifies and pursues target customers and projects in alignment with company goals
  • Creates and maintains close, trusting relationships with customers and potential customers
  • Develops insights into customers’ business plans and influences recommendations, project scope, and decision criteria
  • Consistently secures profitable and/or strategic customers and projects
  • Delivers complete, well-informed customer presentations and effectively balances potential risks and rewards when negotiating
  • Effectively assesses and prioritizes opportunities to bid, and accurately assesses all factors of project scope that may affect cost
  • Plans and coordinates pre-job, including identifying and resolving potential issues, and develops appropriate internal cost code structure
  • Maximizes profitability by developing and gaining agreement from customers on a schedule of values and ensuring timely and effective billing and collections
  • Manages project delivery, serving as a resource to the field, and effectively influences the outcome to all safety, cost, and quality-impact issues

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED with equivalent work experience, or Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field of study
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in commercial or residential construction industry selling, estimating, and managing projects
  • Proven track record developing new customers and selling projects to both new and existing customers, with field experience a plus
  • Demonstrated experience using various estimating, scheduling, and/or project management technology

  • Customer service skills and ability to adapt in a changing environment
  • Team player with the ability to interact professionally with all levels both internally and externally
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Working Conditions

Able to work a varied schedule to complete projects and meet deadlines in response to changing demands, including overtime and working in a fast-paced environment with high daily pressure to meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements

Able to demonstrate the manual dexterity to operate a personal computer effectively, communicate orally in a clear manner, and hear oral communication either in person or on equipment such as telephone or mobile phone.
