What You'll Do
- Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs from construction plans and specifications
- Develop competitive estimates using production rates, labor, equipment, and material costs
- Review project drawings, bid documents, and specifications to identify project scope and potential risks
- Support project scheduling and coordinate upcoming work with field operations
- Aid in project planning, logistics, and resource allocation
- Communicate with general contractors, customers, and internal team members throughout the bidding and project lifecycle
- Maintain estimating records, bid history, and project documentation
- Utilize Excel and estimating software to organize project information and improve estimating accuracy
- Identify opportunities to improve estimating processes and operational efficiency
- Partner directly with ownership to support the continued growth of the business
Must-Haves
- Experience reading construction drawings and specifications
- Strong quantity takeoff and estimating skills
- Excellent math aptitude with an understanding of production rates and job costing
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
- Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and learning new software platforms
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and customer service skills
Nice-to-Haves
- Construction Management degree
- Experience estimating asphalt, paving, milling, sitework, earthwork, concrete, or heavy civil projects
- Knowledge of Davis-Bacon prevailing wage requirements and production rates
- Scheduling or project coordination experience
- Experience with MethodCRM or similar CRM software
- Experience using estimating or project management software
