About the role
The Process Piping Estimator for Murray Company's Advanced Technologies division provides and/or coordinates all estimating services necessary to procure Process Piping / Mechanical projects. Key responsibilities include contacting Pre-Construction Departments, evaluating opportunities, preparing estimates, coordinating drawings, soliciting pricing, running job reports, and assisting in sales and productivity tracking.
Responsibilities
- Regularly contact Pre-Construction Departments to identify opportunities
- Evaluate opportunities to ensure they align with business model and offer profitability
- Review plans, P&ID's, specifications, and contracts to identify impacts on work
- Operate and learn a computer-based take-off and estimating system for reproducible results
- Cook drawings, scopes, and POCs with other trades
- Prepare RFIs for projects bidding
- Solicit pricing from vendors/subcontractors
- Prepare recaps, general conditions, schedule, and letters for projects
- Run job reports in preparation for bid review with Estimating Manager
- Aid in selling the project, including developing a scope of supply, presentations, entertainment, negotiation, and closing
- Participate in kickoff meetings, presenting scope of work, work plan, budget, unusual requirements, and critical limitations on scope
- Assist in productivity tracking of labor units
- Attend daily staff meetings to identify scope deviations, monitor production, and forecast future work
- Assist in developing alternate plans to recover projects where actual performance is not meeting budgeted plan
Requirements
- 3+ years in estimating large-scale construction projects related to high-purity process piping
- Proficiency in related estimating software (FastPIPE / FastDUCT, Trimble Autobid, Bluebeam, QuickPen, etc.)
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel
- Deep experience in semiconductor and/or biopharmaceutical construction projects
- Field, craft, or piping trade experience, or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
- Understanding of adjacent piping systems (plumbing, HVAC, etc.)
Qualifications
- Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, lifting up to 15 pounds, reading printed and digital documents, climbing ladders, accessing and egressing trenches and/or attic spaces and/or confined spaces, recognizing alarms, signals, and verbal instructions, wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed, grasping, handling, and manipulating small objects

Pay
- San Leandro: $105,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
- Cypress & Chandler: $85,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
