About the role

Responsibilities
- Establish project objectives, procedures, and deliverables.
- Prepare estimates from quantity take-offs and complete them to computer printouts.
- Evaluate potential areas for cost savings and review proposal specifications and drawings.
- Attend pre-bid meetings to understand project scopes and prepare for bid proposals.
- Guide personnel in preparing the completion matrices for assigned bids.
- Maintain working documents to support estimate figures and update the estimating program.
- Develop labor productivity rates and installation unit costs based on site conditions and historical data.
- Create comprehensive lists of materials and equipment required for estimates, ensuring clarity and detail.
- Select qualified suppliers and subcontractors, and solicit quotes from them.
- Review quotes for completeness and compliance with plans and specifications.
- Ensure timely completion of all client-required documents.
- Prepare scope letters, inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications for estimates.
- Provide detailed reviews of scope, technical requirements, and pricing to the Chief Estimator.
- Meet with the project management team post-bid to explain the job scope and address potential concerns.
- Manage files of all working documents to support estimate figures.
Requirements
- Advanced knowledge of the assigned discipline, construction technology, estimating techniques, and cost control.
- Minimum supervision required with assigned tasks.
- Read and interpret blueprints and engineering design drawings.
- Perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating.
- Coordinate and supervise group work efforts.
- Mentor and assist with the development of Estimators.
- Identify and meet customer needs and expectations.
- Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks, adapting to changing priorities.
- Work under time pressure and maintain a positive attitude.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Be self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Interact professionally with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and others.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ estimating or relevant experience.
- Advanced experience in Accubid estimating software, LiveCount Cloud, and Bluebeam software.
Skills
- Advanced knowledge of the assigned discipline, construction technology, estimating techniques, and cost control.
