Estimator II
About the role
This position will be responsible for estimating and preconstruction services which include, but are not limited to, the preparation of estimates, document review and constructability, cost management and value engineering analysis, systems review, variance analysis and historical cost comparisons, and bid solicitation, receipt and evaluation.
Responsibilities
- Assists in communicating estimating related content at monthly PM Meetings.
- Affords mentorship and training to team members.
- Provides input on marketing responses to client Request for Proposal (RFP).
- Participates and presents in Owner/Clients presentations and/or interviews.
- Completes necessary take-offs and prepares estimates during all phases, including conceptual through final construction documents (guaranteed max price).
- Develops and analyzes value-engineering alternatives.
- Prepares and presents estimate documentation Project Team and Executive-level review.
- Actively participates in design meetings and provides timely feedback on impact of design decisions on estimate.
- Receives and evaluates bids from subcontractors, vendors, suppliers to and identifies qualified bidders for team's consideration.
- Evaluates bids from various subcontractors, vendors and suppliers in cooperation with/support of operations teams.
- Solves cost-discrepancies.
- Mentors others within the organization in the use of estimating software used by KA.
- Adept and utilizing all of KA's estimating software.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge; brings back learning and disseminates information to management and appropriate team members.
- Participates in industry associations.
- Prepares the required documents and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Maintains unit pricing database by collecting current market rates from contractors, review of recent bid results and monitoring market trends.
- Captures historical cost data and entry to cost modeling forecasting software.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 5+ years of estimating experience or equivalent of education and/or experience.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, Project and Outlook).
- Extensive knowledge of Preconstruction software.
- Ability work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
- Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency and meet challenging work goals.
- Ability to quickly learn new software and computer applications.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates at a time.
- Ability to maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures and meet quality standards.
- Ability to possess and maintain exceptional work ethic as well as uphold company values and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others.
Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in related field.
- Knowledge of estimating software, such as: On Screen Takeoff (OST), WinEst, and Modelogix.
- Knowledge of Systems/Uniformat based conceptual estimating techniques.
Skills
- Knowledgeable in using all of Kraus-Anderson's estimating software.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project and Outlook).
- Experience with Preconstruction software.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Ability to maintain compliance with company policies and procedures.
Benefits
Salary Range: $87,000 to $122,000 annually, plus discretionary incentive program. While the range listed represents the anticipated hiring range for this position, offers at the upper end of the range are uncommon. Pay is based on many factors including but not limited to education, skill, experience, training, certifications, and other business needs.
