Estimator II

About the role

Arconic is seeking a driven and detail‑oriented Estimator II to join the Kawneer team in Harrisonburg, VA, supporting the U.S. Building & Construction Systems division. Reporting to the Order Pursuit Supervisor, the Estimator II develops competitive pricing and estimates for storefronts, curtain walls, doors, and windows, provides exceptional customer service, and collaborates with internal teams, sales representatives, and clients to resolve issues and deliver winning solutions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimations for projects and construction plans using customer‑supplied lists, elevations, and architectural plans.
• Provide exceptional customer service for Kawneer’s clients.
• Consult with internal teams, clients, sales reps, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues such as quote follow‑ups, order changes, product‑related issues, and customer claims.
• Serve as the primary point‑of‑contact for phone inquiries, ensuring 100 % response and assistance without frequently forwarding calls.

Essential knowledge and skills

• Experience in the construction industry (estimating, drafting, project management, etc.).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational and time‑management abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment within a professional office setting.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook and Excel.
• Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment with tight deadlines.
• Travel requirement: 0 %.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 2–5 years of experience in the construction industry (estimating, drafting, project management, etc.).
• Legal authorization to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship available).

Preferred

• Associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• 5–10 years of work experience in the construction/architectural industry.
• 5–10 years of cost‑estimating experience.
• Previous experience providing cost estimates for curtain wall or window wall products.
• Experience using JD Edwards and/or KaluCAD.
• Ability to visualize design concepts from architectural plans.
• Negotiation experience.
• Ability to calculate engineering loads on single and double window spans.
