Summary Description
Performs electrical related estimating tasks in smaller, service style environments; focusing on providing quick turn arounds and offering cost effective options that fall within customer specifications. Works closely with our constant presence site personnel on the generation and submission of new project work at those facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M safety policies and procedures.
- Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M employment policies and procedures including standards of conduct and appearance to reflect positively on the Company.
- Performs estimating of electrical service work.
- Ensures validation of all relative materials labor and equipment costs are covered as part of the scope of work.
- Conducts field surveys and attends pre-bid meetings as needed to prepare accurate estimates and proposals.
- Has knowledge of the latest industry materials, installation techniques and attends related training sessions.
- Maintains a close working relationship with BAS, electrical construction, high voltage, and security estimators to maximize business opportunities.
- Performs basic AutoCAD tasks such as plotting, overlays and symbol translation.
- Works closely with electrical construction estimating team as needed.
- Attends and provides weekly estimating updates at our operational meetings.
- Mets with customers both existing and new to determine their specific needs and offers cost effective alternatives as needed.
- Performs project and service kick off meetings when needed.
- Works closely with our constant presence site personnel on estimating technique and mentoring of lesser experienced staff.
- Recommends improved methods of design, estimating and installation practices to further streamline process and profitability.
Job Requirements
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
- High school diploma and supplemental knowledge of the electrical construction industry strongly recommended.
- Minimum of ten years’ experience in the electrical service or industrial electrical service environment.
- Thorough understanding of the NFPA 70e electrical code.
- Above average literacy of computer aided drafting and mathematical skills preferred.
- Ability to meet deadlines, work unsupervised and manage multiple commitments.
- Strong customer service skills.
Physical Requirements
- Working a minimum of 40 hours/week.
- Sitting 6 to 8 hours/day.
- Lifting weights of 0 to 30 lbs. from floor to above shoulders.
- Repetitive use of hands for writing, typing, data entry, and filing.
- Vision adequate for computer use and reading.
- Hearing adequate for phone use.
- Standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, bending, twisting, and walking as needed to perform site surveys to collect data for project design.
- Balance adequate for climbing ladders, scaffolds, and lifts.
- Environment: temperature extremes of 0 F to 100 F up to 8 hours inside or outside; atmospheric exposure to dust, gases, fumes, odors; and poor ventilation in confined spaces.
- Special hazards: exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and explosive hazards.
- Personal protective equipment: use of hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, gloves and hearing protection.
