Responsibilities

• Communicating with contractors or vendors
• Using estimating software
• Presenting suggestions to project leaders regarding upcoming projects
• Preparing accurate cost estimates and proposals
• Calculating the cost and resources needed for construction or manufacturing projects
• Evaluating the materials, labor, and equipment required for a project
• Developing a detailed budget and schedule
• Working with other professionals, including consultants, contractors, accountants, and operations personnel
• Analyzing requirement documents, blueprints, and project plans
• Reviewing project drawings, specifications, and scope documents/bid packages to develop detailed, accurate material and labor cost estimates
• Preparing detailed proposals to support the sales and bid process
• Preparing formal quotes and proposals in response to bid requests from contractors, subcontractors, and architects
• Pursuing new bids, contracts, and other sales growth opportunities
• Performing product costing work with contractors
• Preparing material estimates and cost estimates for the product or service
• Able to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and bid documents
• Preparing quotes and RFP/proposals within a construction environment
• Developing and maintaining relationships with vendors and contractors
• Managing bids from vendors and contractors
• Presenting prepared estimates to project managers
