Estimator - Construction
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed, accurate, and competitive estimates for a variety of heavy civil and utility construction projects.
- Conduct thorough cost analysis, identifying potential cost savings, value engineering opportunities, and risk factors associated with each project.
- Manage the entire bid process, from reviewing project plans and specifications to soliciting and evaluating quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Ensure that bids are submitted accurately and on time.
- Stay updated on industry trends, construction methods, materials, and technologies.
- Use this knowledge to continuously improve estimating processes and enhance competitiveness.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Provide clear and professional communication throughout the bidding process.
- Mentor junior estimators, sharing expertise and best practices to foster their professional development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in heavy civil and utility construction estimating and business development.
- Strong understanding of construction practices, methods, and materials.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency with estimating software, such as HeavyBid or B2W.
- Ability to travel as needed to job sites and industry events.
