Estimator
Job Summary
The Bowers Group, a Legence company, is seeking a motivated Estimator to support preconstruction and estimating activities for mechanical and plumbing construction projects. This position is ideal for an early career professional looking to grow technical estimating skills while working closely with senior estimators, project managers, and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Aid in preparing estimates for mechanical and/or plumbing construction projects
- Perform quantity takeoffs using drawings, MEP specifications, and bid documents
- Enter and manage estimate data using Quote Express, AutoBid/AutoBid Pro, and Excel
- Solicit, review, and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Support bid preparation, documentation, and proposal submissions
- Maintain organized estimating files and cost data
- Participate in internal estimate reviews and project handoff meetings
Skills & Qualifications
- 1+ year of experience in construction estimating or a related role (mechanical or plumbing preferred)
- Proficiency or working knowledge of Quote Express, AutoBid/AutoBid Pro, and MS Office Suite
- Ability to read and interpret basic construction drawings and MEP specifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- U.S. work authorization required, no visa sponsorship available
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Professional customer service mindset
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Field experience in mechanical or plumbing construction preferred
- Interest in long term growth within estimating or preconstruction preferred

Additional Information
Onsite position based in Beltsville, MD. Typical work hours for this role are 7am – 5pm. Hourly rate: $38.50 - $57.00. There is no visa sponsorship available for this position.
