Estimator

Smith Douglas Homes is one of the fastest-growing home-building companies in the country, seeking an experienced Estimator for our Woodstock, Georgia office. This role will transition to a hybrid model after training.

About the Role

You will oversee the SMART (our proprietary software) Standard Plan component and infrastructure design to ensure accurate purchase order quantities. Collaborate with the team to implement necessary changes in SMART, drive new estimating initiatives, and train other estimators as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve the SMART estimating database, including product structure enhancements.
• Collaborate with other estimators to establish and follow best practices.
• Work with management to implement new projects in SMART, including adding sellable plans to meet CIC timelines for approved deals.
• Accurately perform quantity takeoffs of new plans and enter them into the SMART database plan structure format.
• Create and maintain retail catalogs, option standard books, and color selections.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of the Construction Schedule.
• Promote cost-saving and quality-improvement strategies for plans and estimates.
• Oversee standards books creation and perform margin comparisons.

Requirements

• Four-year college degree.
• At least two years of home-building estimating software experience.
• Knowledge of residential construction techniques, methods, and terminology.
• Two years of residential estimating experience.
• Experience in building construction or a related field is helpful.

Skills

• 1+ years of Planswift experience.
• 1+ years of Pipeline estimating software experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access.
• CAD (AutoCAD) experience is helpful.
