What You'll Be Doing

  • Manage the estimating lifecycle from beginning to end, including timelines, deadlines, and estimating packages.
  • Work within an estimating team on individual or team-based projects.
  • Cook up total estimating efforts relevant to particular bid or project.
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships.
  • Meet Company budget volume and gross margin targets.
  • Provide complete conceptual and final estimating input on complex projects.
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required content of project estimates.
  • Perform necessary research to produce accurate, complete, and competitive pricing.
  • Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work using estimating software.
  • Review all project requirements and specifications when preparing estimates and proposals.
  • Determine any risks related to the estimate and include in project proposals.
  • Ensure that estimates and proposals are complete, well-organized, and ready for review before the given deadline.
  • Prepare project proposals and participate in pre-bid review process where necessary.
  • Maintain files of working documents as back-ups.
  • Cook up with the field operations team on successful bids to provide a thorough transition to the project team.
  • Partner with our operations teams to properly transfer awarded projects.
  • Communicate with customers to properly define the project scope, address deficiencies, and negotiate pricing.

Qualifications

  • Two to five years of experience as an Estimator in the construction industry.
  • Strong technical understanding of materials and methods used in the installation of construction projects.
  • Customer-focused, skilled in estimating and people management.
  • Able to manage project bidding in an efficient and cost-effective manner, with a strong focus on quality.
  • Able to read blueprints, technical drawings, and diagrams; and follow specifications.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Reliable and punctual with a positive attitude.
  • Excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and estimating software (Conest IntelliBid preferred).
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
  • Able to pass background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Valid driver’s license & reliable transportation.
